Since Super Typhoon Haiyan, more than 1.9 million individuals have become homeless. This number includes more than 580,000 families with children. The faith-based charity Compassion International, which has provided assistance and support to the Philippines since 1977, stands ready to help these families.
Compassion International partners with more than 340 churches across the Philippines. Through these connections, the organization is able to efficiently and effectively distribute support such as first aid kits, emergency shelter, clothing, and hygiene supplies. These relief efforts help families not only to survive the weeks and months immediately following the disaster, but also to rebuild their homes and livelihoods. Compassion International is also mobilizing its resources to provide emotional and spiritual support to help families take care of themselves, one another, and their communities, and to cope with the devastating losses that they and their neighbors have encountered. The organization is currently accepting donations via its website, www.Compassion.com.
