Dr. Chris Endfinger, a physician specializing in emergency medicine at Team Health Southwest in Alabama, has over 20 years’ experience in his field. Dr. Chris Endfinger supports several charitable organizations, including the Fight 4 Life Fitness and Boxing Ministry in Birmingham.
Gregory and Dorothy Young started Fight 4 Life in 1999. Coach Gregory, who had a successful professional boxing career, started the ministry in an effort to use his athletic abilities to invest in the lives of inner-city youth. By mixing boxing instruction with prayer, mentoring, and support, the students who attend the gym have learned valuable coping skills for life’s trials. Coach Gregory believes that boxing can help troubled kids learn to deal with their anger as well as daily stress and tension.
In addition to boxing instruction provided by Coach Gregory and his staff, Dorothy Young works to help students with their homework. This two-tiered approach that mixes academics with fitness helps students grow in self-discipline and self-confidence. While at the gym, students are intentionally introduced to the benefits and blessings of a relationship with Jesus Christ.
